August 15, 2023 – F.A.R.M.S. will accept 2024 SAWP LMIA applications only through LMIA Online with January & February 2024 as the first arrival date. Service Canada will accept SAWP LMIA applications up to 6 months ahead of the first arrival date.

IMPORTANT UPDATE! Effective January 12, 2022 and until June 30, 2024, Employment and Social Development Canada will suspend minimum advertising requirements for employers applying for a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) to hire temporary foreign workers in primary agriculture. Employers are expected to continue efforts to recruit Canadians and permanent residents. However, employers will not be required to meet TFWP minimum advertising requirements or submit proof with their LMIA application. Please see more information here:

EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2023 – CURRENT ONTARIO SAWP WAGE is $15.83/HR (for most commodities). 2023 LMIA APPLICATIONS MUST STATE AT LEAST $15.83/HR (for most commodities). Please see more information here.
As per the SAWP employment agreement, SAWP workers must be paid the provincial minimum wage or the wage rate determined annually by ESDC (Employment and Social Development Canada), whichever is greater.
